1. Salvation

Introduction Questions

1. If you were to die today, do you know 100% that you would go to Heaven or are you still working on that?

2. Are you afraid to die?

3. Do you have an appetite for the Bible and worship? If so, what does that look like?

Key Verse- “These things are written that you mighty know you have eternal life (1jn5:13).”

Teaching- The most important question in life is; “do you know Jesus Christ?” Because that will determine your eternal destiny. Jesus taught, “This is eternal life, that they may know God and Jesus who He sent (jn17:3).” So, do you know that you know Him? Think of Romans: “God’s Spirit comes into our spirit and we cry out “Abba, Father (rom8:15).” That is the intimate relationship we have in Jesus.

There are several indicators of healthy spiritual life that you can identify. “All our lives we were in bondage to the fear of death (heb2:15).” “But perfect love drives out all fear” (1jn4:18). The goal is to walk with God so close in this life, that death is like a walk with a friend.

If you have tasted and seen that God is good, you would want more of Him. “Like babes that desire pure milk that you can grow (1pet2:2),” is how a Christian will desire reading and listening to the preaching of the Bible. Is it hard for you to pay attention at church? Do you never read your Bible or listen to Christian music? Then maybe you do not have an appetite for spiritual food. There are only two reasons a person does not eat, they are sick or they are dead.

If you have said, “I am working on it,” or “No I don’t have an appetite, or “I am afraid to die,” then let’s get you on the right track right now. If you believe in your heart and confess with your lips that Jesus is the Son of God, you will be saved (rom10:9). Jesus teaches that if you believe in Him you would have everlasting life. What must you believe? Believe that you were a sinner who broke God’s laws and deserved death and Hell. But God loves you. He sent His only Son Jesus to come as a man, to die on the cross, to pay your punishment. Believe that Jesus not only died, but that He rose again. He ascended into Heaven and has sent His Holy Spirit, who will come into your spirit and you will be “born again.”

Closing- Offer each person an opportunity to respond.

1. Who would like to pray with me that they could receive eternal life today?

2. Who would like to ask God to confirm their salvation to them today?

Then pray.
